Day 7

Today we went to Memphis and we saw about 5 dead animals on the side of the road. Jane and I got to interview some people and asked some questions. The pick up was so hot, we had bandanas that were wet and we put them on our faces. Then we went to a church. But not just any church. This church had a choir and a good one. Everyone sang along and I got to speak in front of the whole church. It was awesome! After that, we went to the best doughnut place in the world its called Gibson doughnuts. They had a bacon flavored doughnut. I was amazed

Today wasn’t a tasteless day.

Day 6

So as you know, my birthday was last weekend and I'm going to tell you what happened. So on my birthday I woke up and we had to leave for the road. We were on the road for a long time before we got to the clean up but we did get there. It was the most fun and short clean up, then we went to the Cherry Mansion to hear music. A very nice woman showed me how to play the fiddle. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it. And then we went to  Chickasaw State Park  and then we ate at the Blue Bunny and Marge even gave me a present!

It was the best birthday ever. and this is Harlan :)

Day 5

Today we didn’t do a litter pick up, we went to a recycling sorting center instead. The people there sorted the trash so quickly and so perfectly. The paper and the bottles and the cardboard were all in the right places. My mom and dad where so into it that we stayed past lunch time and we heard the music pretty late that day. We headed back to the campsite at three or four o’clock. The people doing the music today were a family. A mom, Dad , and a 16 year old girl. After they played their music, we had a cookout. We had hot dogs and hamburgers and all sorts of stuff. Then we told scary stories I had trouble sleeping that night but I still had fun.

I had bundles of fun today.

Day 4

Today I went to the most fun litter pick up yet. Even though people from jail were there they were quite nice and don’t get me wrong they weren’t killers or robbers. They went to jail for things like child support, drunk driving and some other things. Anyway, we picked up in the countryside today. Marge and I were walking across the road and we almost got hit by a car! IT WAS SO SCAREY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I am OK now. Then we went to a place called the Farm. It wasn’t an actual farm. It used to be a hippie community. We heard the music for the day there and we got to go on a hike with one of the owners of the Farm. We hiked down to a creek and on all the rocks were millions of tiny snails. We also got to stick our heads in a water fall!

Today was epic

Day 3

Hello everybody!  Now let me tell you a story.  So once upon a time,  it was like any other day in the RV, we were driving to a roadside clean up.  A lot of people were there, even some kids, I said "hi" to them and I think they liked me.  I asked them some questions like where they go to school.  We talked for a while, then it was time to clean up.  We cleaned for a long time, then we were cleaning by a gas station and a woman stopped by and looked at me for a while.  Then she finally said "have these cookies, you people are doing such a good thing"  After we cleaned up I shared them with everybody.  Today was so much fun.

My dad gave me this camera to take pictures during the trip.

Day 2

On the second day, we went to a lakeside clean up, but we didn’t clean up for long because it started to rain. Luckily people were there before us so they picked up a lot longer then we did and picked up more trash. We went to a nearby shelter to sort the trash, and I got to interview my sister and my mom and dad put it in the video. After the pick up we went to hear the music for the day. It was actually my favorite music for the whole tour. The band was called Churchyard. They played a song called Dollface.  IT WAS AWESOME !!!!!!!!They were the best rock band I’ve ever heard. Well what a day it has been.

Day 1

On the first day of Pickin’ Up TN, we went to Franklin County to pick up by an old train station. There were lots of kids there who were happy cleaning up their small city. We cleaned up for a while and nothing much happened except that my parents interviewed some people, but you have to watch the video to look at that. Later the crew went to a very old corn mill. They took some pretty pictures. You should really check them out. When we got back to the campsite, we heard the music for the day. Some of the musicians were very interesting. One of them made his own instruments and one of them dressed up her instrument. She put a hat on the instrument and she put a scarf on it.

This has been an exciting day.
