Ready to Set Sail

Well, here it is – my first ever blog entry. I admit I have been a latecomer in embracing social media even though as a professional video producer, I am well aware of the advantages, the necessity really, of a well-orchestrated social media campaign to accompany any video production. So, from the beginning, the Pickin' Up TN project has been designed with social media in mind and that meant that I would have to get over my reservations about being public with my life.

I've avoided blogs because by nature, I'm a very private person. But this project and the message behind it are so important, it is worth sharing with as many people as possible. On the surface, we are focusing awareness on the persistent problem of roadside litter in the state of TN. But this project is also about celebrating this great state's diverse people, regions, musical traditions and breathtaking scenery. This project promises to offer up many sights and sounds that make you appreciate living here and if you don't live here, you'll definitely want to visit.

Needless to say, I'm very excited to be part of the Pickin' Up TN tour. In my 25 years of working in film and television production, I have never been part of something that has the potential to have such a positive impact on people's behavior. It my sincere hope that this project will directly influence people to take ownership of the great state of Tennessee, pick up litter wherever they see it, recycle as much as possible and instill in their children. an ethic of stewardship for the land. Love the Land. Lose the Litter.
